This Kukri(khukuri) is named after Dhankuta, a small village located in the eastern part of Nepal. Craftsmen of the village has specialized such decorative Kukri. The scabbard is made of Rosewood. It is simple working as well as decorative knife with a fancy scabbard that has national symbols mounted on its front panel. The sheath displays various national monograms made from metallic sheets like White metal such as king’s crown, national bird of Nepal (Danfe), national flower (Laligurans), Gurkha emblem (kukri cross). The blade is 10” long made of highly graded carbon steel. The handle is made of Rosewood, which is approximately 5” long. Its use has diverse from building, clearing, chopping firewood, clearing weeds, dividing perennials, slashing brush, and digging to cutting meat and vegetables, skinning animals and opening tins.
We highly recommend that the wooden parts on all kukri are treated with the appropriate timber oil or wood treatment prior to use to protect and prolong the life of the timber. All of our exquisite Kukri’s are handmade and as such there will be variations in size, weight, timber colour and other such features which make them unique and distinguishable from machine made imitations.
